Sports Scholarship Programme

The University is well established as a major BUSA (British University Sports Association) competitor, and we are seeking to extend this tradition of sporting excellence with our sports scholarship programme.

ACADEMIC

• Wide range of sports related programmes
• Tailored programme to meet academic and training requirements
• Sports science support
• Excellent range of sport facilities
• State of the art sports science laboratories

Successful applicants will join the Scholarship Scheme that offers the following benefits:

• £500 to cover training expenses and equipment needs in any sport recognised by Sport England.
• Sport Science support.
• Access to an individual sports mentor to help secure access to appropriate training and club facilities.
• Sports performance seminar programme.
• Coach education placements available.
• Opportunities for flexibility with academic programme.

The University is looking to support scholars in their chosen sport.

The University is also a partner in the RFU Rugby Academy at Gloucester, the Gloucestershire County Cricket Academy and Cheltenham Town’s Football Academy.

Successful applicants will need to have secured a place on any undergraduate programme at the University of Gloucestershire.

Conditions of Sports Scholarship

Sports scholarships will normally be available for the duration of a student’s undergraduate programme and renewed subject to:
• Satisfactory academic progression.
• Satisfactory sporting progress (scholars will agree performance goals with their Sports mentor).
• Adherence to any agreed Sports Science support programme.
• A demonstrable commitment to the University and BUSA sport.
• An agreed ambassador role on behalf of the University.
